Welcome to the ' Dignity in Cumbria' Website - a site that has been developed to support the dignity agenda within the County.

We hope that within our pages you'll find really useful information, as well as ideas that you might think about replicating. We have information about what dignity is, how we promote it, projects that impact positively on dignity, being a dignity champion in Cumbria and also a range of dignity poems by local authors.

Together we can help ensure that the experiences of all people receiving health and social care services are positive ones. We know that it only takes small actions by unknowing or thoughtless individuals for someone's dignity to be compromised and their confidence and self esteem to be negatively affected. That's why its essential that everyone who supports people at risk in Cumbria actively thinks about dignity and makes every effort to do all they can to help individuals feel good.

We welcome your comments and contributions, particularly on our good practice initiatives page. Therefore if you would like to share your dignity achievements please do get in touch via
